Hi my name is John I just joined because I have a bit of a problem, I'm running a HP labtop duo core - AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Tech TL-50 -x2, I have a 111 Audio Codecs/Legacy Audio Drivers on my laptop "this is no joke!".. I tried the system>hardware>device manager and no luck, then I tried the run>regsvr32 -u audstub/.dll/.ax , and that said "LoadLibary("audstub") failed - The specifed module could not be found." if anyone knows how to fix this plz let me know. my svchost.exe runs around 10,000k - +56,000k on the task manager! when i end that the sound stops, then i end up reinstalling codecs instead of troubleshooting,... thats how I have so many Codecs... this makes playing BF2 laggy beacuse it's wasting memory or what-not. well this aint leting me upload a file so I cant prov I have 111 codecs..

It it not at all uncommon for hardware to fail to function when loaded with too many codecs. There appears to be no hardware issues preventing you from uninstalling these codecs, so that would be the first thing to do. You can find help in uninstalling the codecs elsewhere in the forum - http://www.click-now.net/forums/index.php?showforum=25 would be a good start. |

ya humm which one is it? i should let you know these are the main labtops codecs that come with the speekers,, built-in Codecs are a software issue, not hardware. Post your issue in the software forum at the link provided. I would o delete all codecs except those which came installed with the computer, new. I would start by using Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs to remove codecs which were not included in the original setup of the machine. I'd ask for help from the software experts at the link I cited. I would add new codecs only when required for specific files/software - not to have a "bank" or library of codecs. I would add them one at a time, and verify that they cause no problems, before adding any others. TOPIC WAS MOVED TO PROPER FORUM This post has been edited by Mischcabob: Oct 17 2007, 06:26 PM |

but thats the problem let I said at 1st, I've tried that before and it willn't let me uninstall them! I don't know how to uninstall them... I would do a "system restore" but the labtop wont let me, it keeps coming up with error or unable to restore to early date. the upload is what the codecs look like, they are the one that come default with the labtop. I would reformat but the labtop didnt come with the XP CD so I'm screwed.. when i do the control panel>..... , and highlight them and press delete it wont let me.

HP's foreign tech people had no clue, so much for; better/ smarter/ cheaper/ workers, from oversea's. well they may be still cheaper! .... but is there any way to get rid of the 111 codecs/drivers...

There are standard MS audio/video codecs installed with windows i.e. ACM codecs. All those codecs aren't necessary for smooth operation.
They can be removed and viewed under Control Panel/System/Device Manager. They appear under SOUND,VIDEO and GAME CONTROLLERS under WINXP. (depending on OS you use) When you click PROPERTIES under respective codec, it will allow you to remove. Are you sure slowdowns with BF2 can be attributed to the codecs? I always tell people when you have Windows pre-installed to at least have a WINXP or restore CD. Doing a WINDOWS RESTORE or reinstall might rectify problem. I know you don't have a WINXP CD, but do you have a HP restore disk which allows you to reinstall from a hidden recovery partition? -------------------- QUOTE Be forewarned. humm, no I dont have either cd... when I try prop. under device, the uninstall is faded and it wont let me select it. ya at 1st bf2 played great and after the task man, read the sound drivers as 50,000+k ,, it started going slower, they run at around 27,216k now all the time because there is 111 running at the same time. ?? I dont know what else to do but redo the labtop...
