I cannot get my MPC to stream wma files - .asx or .wax (which in Windows are associated with MPC).

It says it cannot *render the file* and more specifically
*MPC could not render some of the pins in the graph, you may not have the needed codecs or filters installed on the system.
The following pins(s) failed to find a connectable filter:
File stream renderer::Out*

What does that all mean - I'm quite lost here, I don't know the first thing about codecs/filters so I haven't changed any of MPC's default settings. Please some good soul give me a clue what to do!

You will find the file extensions when you open the MPC and click on VIEW, OPTIONS, PLAYER, FORMATS.

Now you can make your settings. Pick the one you need.

But to find out more about the file, download "G-Spot" here. Open the file with it and "G-Spot" shows you what file it is and if the neccessary codec is already installed or not.

I recommend to read the pinned topic "Guide for using codecs".

I'd done that. MPC is all set up to play .asx streams. However it does not. It keeps saying *can't render* and gives no more reports.

Cheers for that. The only thing is (pl. bear with my ignorance), how can I get G-Spot to load an .asx file from the web so that it can tell me what codec I'm missing?
Tyler
Is it not a videofile you are trying to play ?

When you downloaded it on your pc, you can open it with "G-Spot".
