Hello All!

I need your help!

Im real new to the BitTorrent thing and im really getting confused. Ive downloaded the new BitTorrent from www.BitTorrent.com and when i download it to desktop and run it, it dissapears =s?

But i assume thats normal since I did it 5 times, and go to a bitorrent site to download a game or so, as i do this, it takes 2 secs to download, and im guessing it didnt connect with my client? So it doesnt download.

Any help or explanations are very welcome.

Thanks Again

Yo!

There are ppl out there who live for questions like this. So i thought I'd spoil their fun & hop in and answer your questions before them biggrin.gif

Your BitTorrent program IS running (albeit) in the background waiting to hop in and do it's stuff. It'll be hiding in the taskbar @ the bottom right of your desktop.

So, you've found something (nice & legal) you want to dl. You've clicked on and saved the torrent.......... and nothing happens!!!!!

Yes it DID happen, but you've not quite finished! The little torrent you've saved to presumably your HDD somewhere - go & find it, right click on it and hit OPEN. In doing so this will kick off your (presently running in the background) bitTorrent program into life that uses the small bit of data you've downloaded to go off AND THEN ACTUALLY DOWNLOAD (whatever perfectly legal thing you're after) from all those happy seeders.

Cheers,

Andy

Thanks alot for your reply.

I just now tried to install the bittorrent, now i go to save it to my pc, and to my desktop, and when i do it does not appear there, so I dont actually install it on my pc at all, so it hasnt saved to my desktop liked ive asked.

I still gave it the benefit of the doubt, checked my taskbar, and nothing was there, still thinking it may still be running although I cant see it or havn't installed it, I try to open a file torrent i downloaded, and all which comes up is "Send me to a page to open this file" which just takes me to the windows page, and "Pick a program to open this file", which I can't even find the bittorrent client in the first place.

Quite a pickle you may see.

If your still there, do you know anything im doing wrong?

Thanks again for your reply

Don't know why it's so difficult. rolleyes.gif
Clicking on "windows client" button takes you to a mirror page. Click on one of the mirrors and BitTorrent-4.0.4.exe will be saved in your chosen location.

Navigate to file and double-click. The program will install and create a association for the ".torrent" extension. (May have to reboot!) Not sure about version 4, but there might be a GUI. Just matter d/l torrent file from one of many tracker sites... executing it will launch the GUI and begin the download. cool.gif

well Jim, do you have anything blocking EXE files from being download?
i.e. antivirus, firewall etc.

Also, if you save it to a system folder by chance (hidden by default), you won't be able to see the file. Have you tried downloading other stuff.. or is just happening to EXE files?
