I would like to build a mini-itx system using Via's EPIA platform. The main concern is reliability and stability because I will be using this system to host an Akeni Corporate IM system.
Does anyone has any previous experience with the EPIA platform?

Sorry, never heard of a mini-itx. BUt I have heard of a micro-ATX form factor. 
Feel free ask around, but you will find this forum caters mostly to beginners who have limited computer hardware experience.
