I just got an M-Audio Microtrack and attempting to play wav files from it caused a codec error. Something about the codec being missing. Anyway after downloading and installing various codecs with no success I gave up. Afterwards in an unrelated incident I discovered that my CD drive will not function with any player. It claims the drive is empty even though I have tried several audio CD's. Also, data CD's worked fine. After removing the free version of Musicmatch 10, the drive works. With Musicmatch Plus 7.0 the drive works with all players. With Musicmatch Plus 9.0 Musicmatch claims the drive is empty but other players play the cd just fine. With Musicmatch 10 free version, all players think the drive is empty. I have removed all audio codecs in device manager except the one windows would not allow me to remove and the problem is the same. So, the question is, did I screw something up messing around loading all these strange codecs in the effort to resolve the M-Audio problem? Should I reinstall Windows and start over? (I'm on a fresh install anyway after a crash a few days ago so now would be an easy time) Should I use the Force...lot's of force? The M-Audio Microtrack problem still exist as well but I'm waiting on a reply from their tech support for that solution. This thing with the CD drive thinking it's empty is baffling.
Thanks
