Hi there,

For the past few days I've been trying to get Windows Media Player 10 to play AAC files. I've read that I need to install a DirectShow filter in order to get it to work, but so far nothing I've tried has done anything. I've tried various combinations of Decoders and Parsers, so I don't know if it's a problem with my PC or how I'm installing the things.
Things I have tried include CoreAAC w/ AACParser, and another parser I forget, Envivio TV, and AACPlayer, none with success. AACPlayer won't even work by itself- an error message comes up saying it can't create the filter.
To be exact: "CreateFilter: failed to create filter! hr=0x80040154," then a few more similar ones. The others don't produce messages, just don't seem to do anything.

I've tried this on two computers now, so I realise it's most likely me not registering something or something similar, but to be honest I don't really know very much about codecs or DirectShow, so if anyone out there can give me a tip or two, i'd be grateful.

Topic title edited to be more descriptive.

Considering it's Apple's MPEG4 format, have you tried Apple Quicktime? WMP 10 is not best player to play the format. Best to use a DirectShow player i.e. Media Player Classic, BSPlayer or Zoom player.

Try using the 3IVX decoder:
