Hi all,
I am trying to export some movies using quicktime pro to Ipod. However, the audio seems to be missing.
I do hear the sound when I am playing the file without exporting. But after using the 'export' feature, the sound just disappears. I tried to export the file as an mpeg4...quicktime tells me " No audio track in source movie"

QuickTime 7 Pro users who upgrade to version 7.0.3 will have a new option in the export panel called “Movie to iPod.” By choosing this option your content will be automatically converted into a format that iPod can play back.

Files must comply with the video specifications of the device. iPod supports the following video formats:

QUOTE
* H.264 video
File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
Video: Up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second (fps), Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
* MPEG-4 video
File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
Video: Up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio

Me too! </aol mode> sad.gif Brand new 60G video ipod, under winXP.

I've got the most recent iTunes, and Quicktime pro 7.0.3.

It's taking nearly an hour to encode a 10 minute home movie to the m4v format, and then there's no sound. The original .mov file plays fine in quicktime and itunes, but I can't find a way to get it uploaded to the ipod.

Is the software seriously broken, or am I still doing something wrong?

The closest I could get to a solution was a topic in another forum but the it leads to Mac/OS based program.

Here is a transcription of the thread:::::::::

I am trying to use a .mpg file I downloaded in iDVD. It's nothing illegal, just a short 42 second intro.
I am using QT 5 Pro to try to export the file to something, anything, that can be read by either iMovie or iDVD with no success.
Every time I export the file, I get no sound. The option for sound is greyed out. There IS sound in the original mpg though.

Any clues??

I haven't had to do this, but I've run into the problem. Many mpg/mpeg files (really mpeg-1) are muxed. The audio and video are not easily separable. No QT Pro will split these tracks. Seems from conversations I've seen that tha only thing that will is called bbDemux, here:

You may also have toget SoundApp to put the result into QT format. Both freeware. Then to paste audio into the vid, you might need to do "Paste Scaled" which needs QT Pro.
You still need that audio?

DOWNLOAD VIDEORA! I bought quicktime pro and it would take me hours to convert a 3 min video and the audio would be missing from the file. I downloaded VIDEORA ipod covertor. It took me 2 minutes to convert a video and it WORKS! TRY IT!!!!

Videora dosnt always work for some of the long files the sound gets slow and behind the video for the short files it works fine but when trying to convert a movie ur chances of success are slim to none the site for the videora idpod converter is www.videora.com

as for the sound on quicktime pro im having the same problem and dont want to pay for any other ipod converting sites. ive upgraded all my codecs because it us to only play a white screen and scrambled sound but now i see video and no sound so im getting pretty aggrivated
