Hello,
I bought a Hitachi DVRF7U Digital Progressive Scan DVD Player/Recorder with Hi-Fi VCR and it works fine - however I'm unable to read the DVD on my computer so I can copy and edit the files/movies. In fact the computer wants to format the DVD. But the DVD plays fine on the Hitachi DVRF7U Digital Progressive Scan DVD Player/Recorder with Hi-Fi VCR. Are there any fixes or suggestions you can provide?

Likely uses proprietary copy protection so can only be used on the same device.
Maybe your optical drive can't read DVD-+R media. HAve you read up on what media it supports? wink.gif

I have a sony OEM DVD-/r writer the hitichi format is unknown to me - I suspect it is a mpeg4 format but I am guessing - specks for the hitichi does not list the format and they won't answer my mail - I have trouble dumping my 8mm tape to my old ATI 128 pro all-in-wonder card. So I thought if I can record it to DVD 1str then simply copy the file for editing. I'm really stuck on this one - I was wondering if there was maybe a very cheap DVD R deck I could buy and use - if I did this is there a preferred format that I should look for increasing the chances of getting it from the DVD to my computer - in addition what might you know about video cards ability to download from a camcorder. I have 2 each 120g WD drives with 8 meg buffers - on an asus a7n8x-e mother board - 3 each 512meg mem chips and a 400 bus. I can record from the camcorder but it comes out looking strobie as if the hard drive or the video capture portion of my video card can't lay it down fast enough and it clips the stream - wow - thoughts?
