Assuming speakers are working and volume is not muted. May want to check Sound and Multimedia Properties.

Get Realtek latest drivers here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97...8&Software=True

A question: You reported at the start that you have a AC97 sound card. Did you mean chipset? Typically, AC97 is built-in to your motherboard and I am just trying to clarify what you have. Also, is this a laptop or desktop pc?

What application are you using for basic adjustment of your sound, above and beyond what is provided with your OS that is.

Have you tried to see if headphones work at this point?

Fill us in, my friend.

have you installed the drivers for the chipset? when buying certain motherboards you get a cd with them to install the drivers for all the ports, from personal experience, I had the same problem last week after re-installing windows, I solved it by installing the motherboard drivers again. If you have a cd like this try using add new hardware wizard, and then going to the update drivers section. Tell it to look in the cd drive in whatever subfolder for the drivers. Hopefully this applies to the problem slightly, If im not helping at all tell me to stfu and ill think of another solution. peace.gif
