Need help sad.gif

i'm using a ATI radeon 9800 xt pro, i get these wierd cone things coming out of my character on world of warcraft and theres a lot of distortion kinda thing, like all these different colours appear randomly on the screen.
can't exactly explain it well. its jus really annoying.

the picture above only shows the pixalated thing not the cone thing, tat happens when i move aswell as alot of other wierd things happen when i move in the game. plz reply, really need help.

i jus changed to omega driver from the official ati driver and no difference, still bad.

its happened before, but before i changed sum parameter lines in the config which the wow techincal support sed to do, it fixed it a bit. but a couple weeks later it continued. i also have my case off and can see whats happening inside, the gfx card is hot when i touch it and all fans r working perfectly. so when it happened before a quick leaving the com, puter off and a fan next to it open for an hr wud fix it. but this time, not even that fixes it. it gets hot in like 10 mins, and when its not hot at the start it still goes all pixelated.

PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ HELP ME.

heres my wow start screen.
just as bad.

I am confused, or you have a monitor problem. (I am assuming the pixelation you refer to would show up in a screen capture if it originated in the graphics processor.)

I cannot see - maybe I don't know what to look for - the problem of distortion and random colors that you refer to.

It is a complex image. Have you run simple images - such as are generated in graphics testing programs - through your system? What does a black screen look like? Any irregularities? Same for solid reb, blue, green, cyan, etc.

Anyway, since you see it when you do the screen capture, and I don't see it here, either I am too d-d blind to see it, or the problem you are seeing there is not being captured in the image you posted.

If the problem is specific to WOW, then a visit to the WOW forum would be appropriate. WOW is unique in the demands it places on your system's visual processing capabilities, and they are probably the best people to help you out with WOW specific issues.

Please folks, use your words. dry.gif

Try to describe what is happening on your machine, and how it acts and looks, in plain, simple sentences, with as few abbreviations and neologisms as possible.

WOW, as noted previously, is uniquely demanding in its handling of graphics. If you have a card, any card, that works OK on everything other than WOW, then you are advised to go to the WOW forums and Customer Service and get help there.

Thanks

i have had severerall problems with wow, alot like this one, i was using ati graphics, so my dad saidtry a diffrent graphics card, so he gave me the nvidea 7300 geforce out of his old comp that he didn't use and it works perfectly, i also looked on the box it doesn't reccomend ati

update: it reccomends ati for mac, either way try reinstalling drivers, wow, and have you ever tryed wow repair thats goten me out some tight spots
also tell us what your full spec is
also if it does get hot very quickly, try taking it to a shop and getting a new fan in the card

Thanks very much for your useful posting, Oliver. Very good points.

If I recall correctly, it was at forums on the WOW site that I saw discussions of how WOW, more than other programs, acesses the "deep structure" of graphics processing on these machines. In that regard, it puts unusual or even unique stresses on the graphics processing system. So, in a way, its an ultimate test of graphics hardware.

"extremely newbie" or not, you seem to have a firm grasp on this stuff, and I hope you'll stop in now and then and give us a hand.

had the same problem, when i downloaded directx from the windows site it seemed to download additional software for directx that requires genuine validation. it solved my problem.
