I was wondering if you may be able to assist me. I have an RCA RP5016 voice recorder, which works wonderfully, but saves the voice files in some proprietary .VOC extension that doesn't seem to play through anything but their player. I have downloaded every codec imaginable, but still have no way of converting the file into an mp3 file. Any thoughts or assistance you could provide would be much appreciated. I have read suggestions elsewhere that the codec is similar to a g.264 codec, but I tried that and it still did not recognize it. the .VOC file is completely RCA proprietary, but I would like to find a way to convert it into an mp3 so I can burn them onto CD, which as a student in university, would benefit me tremendously. Any help anyone can offer is much appreciated, also, feel free to e-mail me for a copy of a sample file and I would be happy to send it.
My E-mail is mike_fehr90@hotmail.com
The only way I currently have is to hook up my dvr to a stereo and then run it to my computer's line in. This degrades quality, so it's not really the way I want to go.

Did you see
this thread?
There are few converters, but i'm not sure if they are reliable. I've never heard about RCA RP5016 DVR codec...

Hello!
I am afraid I cannot help you but I was hoping you may be abvle to help me as you got further with this device than I have. I too have bought an RCA RP5016 and I cannot get my computer to recognize it (drivers do not seem to be working) when I first plugged it in the USB port it was revognized and I was told that my device was ready to be used; however right after that another window appeared and said that the device was no recognized. I have gone on the website and updated the driver to no avail. Do you know anyone who has had this problem? And if so how did they resolve it?Me and my roommate tried this on two computers rumnning XP service pack 2 and on one running Windows 98 with same result.
Thanks
Paloma

Thanks for answering! I have solved the problem!

And yes I had tried. I wrote an email and there is still no answer and I got a number for the mother company but they will only be open on Monday... meanwhile it seemed to have to be an issue of which screen I plugged the USB cable from and now all is well! Thanks again...

Unfortunately I have tried all the steps on the dbpower forum, none of them work either. I tend to agree that RCA must have some sort of proprietary codec which can't be read by standard audio programs. It really is the only downside to the voice recorder.
