Hi, I am considering getting the Nvidia Purevideo codecs.
Only problem is I don't seem to have control over which codecs are used by which programs.
I have tried a utility called FilterManager but no matter how much I change the merits of codecs it makes no difference, perhaps there is a problem with the program?
Is it possible to tell a program to deliberately use a certain codec or is the choice of codec programmed into the various media players, dependant on what is registered in the windows registry?
For example, I had the Purevideo codecs installed as a trial but Windows Media 9 would play high definition wmv files using Windows media codecs. If I opened an mpeg, it used the nividia Purevideo codecs.
Now the Purevideo trial has lapsed, although I still have the codecs on the computer and registered I can't get them to be used.
The Windows media player was using Nero Video codec and audio codec last time I checked.
Is there some information available for the basics of how codecs are used, selected and controlled?
Thanks in advance
