Hi,
Recently I have downloaded content from the internet in the form of video files.
I can't run these videos however as I keep getting an error up advising that one or more codecs are missing.
So, my question is this.
How can I find out what codecs are associated with a file so that I can check my system for them and if needs be get them from somewhere so that I can run these files??
I have windows media player 10 so I would have thought that I had all relavent codecs but now I'm guessing not.
Can anyone advise me??
Kind regards
JP.

GSPOT is a good codec iD utility for AVIs:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/GSpot.htmWMP 10 is pretty good at internet lookup for codecs when prompted. Just have to decipher the 4CC code or error message, but unfortunately it can't cover all the codecs. So might want to use better less bloated directshow players. i.e. MPC, BSplayer, VLC etc.
RAdlight Manager is a good codec manager that might help:

Although, you can find more tools in
Codec identifiers, i suggest you to follow Mischcabob's advice, get GSpot, see what codecs you need and download them from free-codecs.com
