it just started happening recently, when i go into fullscreen mode while watching a movie, it will jump back to windowed mode at a random time. reinstallation didnt seem to help either.

Could be changing focus when another program i.e. screensaver activates or using dual monitor support.
What version are you running? Try updating it as it could possibly be a bug.
