This always happens when im online. Right after connecting to the internet this msg appears from Nortan Antivirus 'Thnall 1.exe is atempting to connect to a dns server'. Then it gives the option to 'block all connections from this port(recmended)' or somethin... yeah so i click it. then it goes away. Whenever i restart my com the damn thing happens again, i thought nortan took care of it. So how can i fix this?

What version of AV are you running (2000, 2001, 2002, etc)? And is it bundled in another product (Internet Security, System Works, etc)?
Have you read the manual (or at least the Help menu) and/or checked with Norton's online FAQ's?

Ouyeeah it's not Nortan Antivirus, its Nortan Internet Security.
I'll try to read from the faq's.

If you read the package and/or visit the Norton website, you will see that Norton Anti-Virus is bundled with Norton Internet Security.

"Thnall 1.exe" that tries to connect to DNS server is spyware (likely toolbar). Do you have any anti-spyware software on your machine? NIS is no good. (even if does block it)
Try running HijackThis and post log:
