Im no good with codecs. Actually, I only know I need them to play media files.

So I'll just tell you what's happened to me:
I downloaded some movies, and checked them all to see if they worked. All of them were playable in Media PLayer, except for one movie. I thought I'd just download some codec, and it would all be alright. I downloaded the Xp codec Pack and installed it - didn't help. The file still didn't work. I then downloaded the K-Lite pack, and installed it. What happened next, was that I was unable to play ANY movie file, except a few. The K-Lite package made more movies unplayable than playable (ffs).

This is, by the way, the third time this happens to me with any codec pack from this website, and this is the third computer I've tried the K-lite codec pack, and failed.

G-spot doesn't help me. It cannot read the files - but it's not the files that's corrupted, so the problem remains. Can someone help me and explain what's wrong? Why does the codec packs unable me to watch video files, instead of enabling me? And if someone is having the same problam as me, please post.

1) Try to uninstall all of the codecs.
2) Install FFDshow (all codecs in one). This is the most stable solution,
and FFDshow should alloy you for decoding all sorts of media files
(assuming that you are using direct show compatible player, such as media player classic, etc.)

Cheers, 3d.
