I have been infected with some kind of trojan/virus and various adware programs im my computer. My taskmanager doesnt show up,the quick links vanish after every reboot.Whenever the internet is on,several windows of IE open up with ads(they are not pop-ups,as even without starting IE,the windows open up).Ad-aware isnt able to detect anything neither is Mcaffee. Here's a screenshot of some files i found. But im not able to delete them as it say"Alredy in USe",i cant close them as taskmanager doesnt open.I changed their file extension,it worked for a day, then they got downloaded again in the original format.

Well sounds like your system is mucked up with spyware/adware/malware and hidden trojans. Read threads in this section and pinned topic for more info.

It might be lost cause since some virii are known to disable cripple anti-virus programs. Mcafee only detects virii/worms/trojans, so a good anti-spyware proggie is needed. i.e. Lavasoft Adaware, Counter spy, Webroot spysweeper etc.

Could do walk-thru to end processes at startup, develop a hijack log and do anti-virus/spyware scan, but might be easier to FDISK/format drive. wink.gif

Thanks, but would i have to install all the drivers again??also the windows too?

PS- Even ad-aware doesnt show the files when i custom scan the specific folder.

At this point where anti-spyware/virus scanners don't detect (they are not created equal), it might be easier to use startup disk or orig. windows disk to reformat hard drive and re-install windows. You can waste time troubleshooting to eliminate the nasties, but once the damage is done, it can leave your system unstable anyway.

You may want to backup stuff to removable media or another partition if you have anything of importance. wink.gif
Once you have clean, working barebones system, then make sure you install a good firewall with antispyware/privacy filtering i.e. ZoneAlarm, Agnitum Outpost etc. , alternative browser (Mozilla Firefox) with popup blocker and a good antivirus (NOD32, Kaspersky). thumbsup.gif
