OK, so I've been playing around with a LOT of video editing tools over the past few years. I haven't had too many major problems that updates, reinstalls, and drivers didn't fix. But one nagging thing that happens too frequently is the video window turning GREEN during playback of .wmv files either streaming or residing on my computer. That's been going on for well over a year and it's making me mad. The computer acts like it freezes up when this happens, but in reality it's just responding ohhhh soooo sloowwwwwwww. With a couple of tools (the latest being G-Spot), I've determined I have............ready for this?.................. wacko.gif 390 codecs on this system. I don't know much about the codec world, but I will guess that could be nearly a record amount. Anyways, if someone would be interested in looking over what I have or offering advice I'd be more than appreciative. If I need to drop a listing somewhere, just tell me the format and I'll make it happen. I'm not above being ridiculed, so feel free to laugh at the noob (everyone has their own special talent, you know).

This is an XP Home SP2 and all updates type of machine with lots of drives and cards and junk.
I attached that codec listing from G-Spot (that's kodek on this system) if you're interested. I marked the bad ones in the far left column to make it easier to check.

Thanks in advance.

Try out the latest version of the K-Lite Codec Pack. It contains a tool called 'Codec Tweak Tool'. That tool is able to remove broken codecs and filters from your system. It can also generate a log file of all your installed formats with full pathnames. That makes it a bit more easy to identify which codecs could be removed.
