Aged newbie looking for guidance.
I have 2 laptops, an old Toshiba satellite 1110 and a newer toshiba satellite A75-209, both running fully updated versions of XP home. The 1110 is only USB 1 capable whereas the 75 is USB 2.0.
Problem, I bought a USB2.0 Webcam, Sn9c201, which works fine on the 1110 other than giving the warning that the camera would work better with USB 2.0.
However, whilst I have loaded the software to the A75 without a problem, and the camera passes the diagnostics on the widows control panel camera test, when using the camera wizzard it says it is unable to take a picture. Further when I initiate the AMCAP program it comes up with "graph cannot preview". The AMCAP is ver 8.11. When I move the camera back to the old machine it works fine, I just can get it working on the newer machine.

Has anyone met this problem, grateful for any guidance as to where I should be looking for solutions.

Thanks DD

Any chance you using ATI mobility video card? Try getting latest drivers for video card instead of using windows WDM drivers. Also, make sure you have latest DIRECT X 9.0C drivers.

Many thanks for that,
you were correct in the assumption that the 75 has an ATI card fitted. Have tried installing another piece of hardware and this also only gives problems with the 75 and not the 1110 so it might be an inherrant snag. I have the latest Directrix so will try your steer on new drivers for the video card.

Thanks again
