ok i can't play any avi files and i downloaded GSpot and it still doesn't work. it says i don't have any codecs that will help the files play. does anyone know what codecs i need and where i could find them?
chp
Please post here that GSpot tells about the file. Video, Audio.
darkangel01
um okay. it says in one status spot that the codecs are installed for audio but for video that the codecs are not installed. so i can hear it but i can't see anything. what do i need to download for it to work?

what the hell are you talking about? all i want to know is how to get my avi files working on windows media player 10. does anyone here really know what codecs i can download so they will work? if not i'm fine with you closing my account since no one really helping me so far.

DarkAngel, the post was edited by ADMIn Staff and was targeted at Kyle_Katarn, not YOU.

When you open the AVI with GSPOT, it will identify the video/audio codec it needs and if they are installed.
Likely need DIVX/XVID or just use FFDSHOW. wink.gif
chp
Yep... if you would be so kind and tell us what GSpot EXACTLY says about the
VIDEO (4cc code) for example: DIV3, DIV4, XVID, etc.
AUDIO for example: MPEG Layer-3, AC3, etc.
THEN could we help you.

And Mischcabob mentioned FFDShow... Yes, it can decode almost everything, you should try it.
