In early November 06, I bought a Canon DVC 100 video camera. When I tried to play back the video on my computer I got nothing until I tried DivX, now at least I can view my footage. My problem is I cannot open the files (VRO) with my editing program "Studio 9" to edit them, nor will the files (VRO) open in anything but DivX.

Canon took 48 days to answer my numerous "request for tech support" emails (I think so I couldn't return the camera under the dissatisfasction clause in the warranty). When they did contact me I was told that the camera was for plugging into a TV for play back and that was that and I should have bought a different camera, and the salesman should have told me that. I am stunned that in the digital age a product so vage as this can be sold.

OK That's the background, now can anyone tell me how I can get the VRO files (that appear to be uniquely Canon) to convert to something in the mainstream, so I can edit them on "Studio 9" or similiar?

You (Gurus of codecs and filters in cyberspace) would be doing me a great favour if you could help me here. It hurts to know youv'e been conned for $700 by a firm as large as Canon, who obviously know full well that the product is nothing short of gimicky. We are not a wealthy family by any means, and we went out on a limb to buy this equipment prior to Christmas, so we could get some footage of our kids while they were still small.

Best regards to all

Happy New Year
