Hey Guys....

I really, really have search before posting this. Ive tried lots of different things but I am not (I dont think) achieving what I want.

I just got an M-Audio Audiophile USB and have it hooked up to a laptop that I am using as a media PC. I have it connected only with the one SPDIF cable to my NAD Receiver.

What I ultimately want to accomplish, is to be able to passthru untouched DD/DTS tracks whether they be within the video file or from a DVD. I guess one preliminary question would be, do any/many Xvids of movies and/or TV shows have DD or DTS already embedded in the avi file?? How would I find out if the file does??

Right now, I am using AC3 filter and I get a DD stream to my receiver, however, I know that AC3 is doing the encoding. I dont want to use a software encoder unless the file/dvd does not have the stream present.

Before I was using AC3 Filter, I got a DD stream to my receiver from a dvd, but not from a file. I downloaded a DTS encoded wav file and just got loud static. Even with ac3 filter, I cant get the dts stream to play correctly.

I know this is alot of stuff and I guess what I am looking for is the best combination of software to assist in the process. Again....passthru both DD and DTS when the stream is present, and then software encoding when it is not.

Thanks so much for the help!!

By the way, I am running XP SP2.

Update: I found out that with GSpot, I can see the stream encoded to the file. I do have a bunch of videos that have an AC3 stream....still need the rest. THanks!
