I have been receiving hundreds of Urban Dictionary emails. I understand how UD works, and how anyone can place any email address in the Send To blank, and when you receive the email it looks like it came from a real email. They can even put YOUR email address in to make it look as though you sent it to yourself.
The IP address in the header only shows UD’s IP, not the true sender, as it is a remote process.
Questions:
- Does UD maintain records of IP addresses, and if so how do I get access to them? They do not return ANY of my “feedback” requests. Where do I send a subpoena?
- In the header of the emails I receive it has a line called “message ID”, and at the end of that is #######@west.urbandictionary.com. Does this mean that is an ID number they can trace?
- In their Terms of Service (TOS) they state that any dispute over 2 months old is basically not their problem. Does that likely mean they do not keep records older than 60 days?
Thanks in advance for any advice. This is driving me crazy and I cannot seem to block it.
