I've used the codec pack for years and always upgrade to the latest versions, however recently I can't play FLV files properly. If I attempt to play a file using WMC, I receive the following error and my sound doesn't work on any video.

LEAD FLV Demultiplexer Eval Notice
A runtime license is required to deploy this software in production. To
obtain the necessary runtime license, a duplication and distribution
license agreement must be completed and returned to LEAD
Technologies, Inc. If you believe you are receiving this message in
error, please contact LEAD Technologies, Inc at (704) 332-5532.

I can play the files with no problems in VLC. I have attempted uninstalling the codec pack, clearing everything saying "k-lite" from the registry and reinstalled to no avail. I have also used the tweak tool to disable the FLV Splitter. I have a friend with the same issue. I can't find anything online about this issue and apparently nobody here has had this problem either. I hope someone can assist. smile.gif

I am using Vista Business and my friend with the same problem is using XP.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You are disabling the wrong FLV splitter. You should disable that LEAD FLV filter that is showing the error. Then the filter that is included with the pack will take over. That filter works correctly in WMP.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't know where to even find the LEAD FLV filter to disable it. I can't see it in the K-Lite options when I either install or try the Tweak Tool, and I couldn't find it in the registry. Is there a specific place to disable that filter?

That filter does not belong to K-Lite, so you won't find it anywhere in K-Lite options. It must have been installed by some other program.

The Codec Tweak Tool has an option to generate a log of all installed DirectShow filters. Generate a log and post that here. Then I can tell you how and what to disable.

Thanks for the tip. I was able to generate the log file and found the dll file causing the issue:

Description: LEAD FLV Demultiplexer
File name: c:\windows\system32\lmflvdmx.dll
Merit: 00600000 = MERIT_NORMAL
Status: broken
Reason: File not found

As shown above, once I removed it, the issue was resolved. Still found *several* other "LEAD" things.
When I uninstalled M2 Convert (Zune converter), the issue subsided. Now there are NO remnants of any LEAD crap.

Thanks again.
