Hello,

I'm from northern Indiana where the gas stations around here think we have suckers painted on our fore heads. biggrin.gif

I discovered this forum through the Codecs website, and by reading the very fine codecs guide and explantion by the administrator.

I don't know jack about the video hobby. And I have huge amounts of brain noise trying to figure out how all this stuff fits together in order to enjoy, manipulate and use video files, dvds, audio files etc.

In my opinion, it seems like an industry that is out of control and has many confusing options and choices in order to pleasure ourselves with entertainment.

My skills include electronics background and hacker level computer knowledge. ie try this and try that till I figure it out.I'm not technically disabled.

My biggest pet peeves are this;

When I purchase a software package I wish the developers wouldn't assume I know as much as they do.

When I have a question about a package, almost always I can't find an answer in the FAQ section. I wish they would include a link that includes all questions from all users, along with the helpful answer.

The computer could, and should have been renamed the CONFUSER.

That's it, I'll get off the crate here and carry on.
