Hello. Before ask this question I've been searching a previous post related with it, but I couldn't find any
that fit exactly my trouble (I apologize if I have done a bad or mistaken search).

My video editing software (Sony Vegas 7) can't import properly Motion JPEG "*.AVI" files recorded onto a still camera, as Sony itself recognizes at its support centre (look here: http://www.custcenter.com/cgi-bin/sonypict...amp;p_topview=1. If this link doesn't work, try going to www.custcenter.com and performing a search by "problems importing avi files recorded").
There they say you'll need a "third party codec" in order to import this kind of file.
So my question is simply: Does K-Lite Codec Pack include this third party codec? And if so, which are exactly the tweaks to enable it?

Enable MJPEG in ffdshow.

If you mean going to K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > ffdshow video decoder, and then check the "MJPEG" and "Other MJPEG" entries, I think both are already enabled given that both show the "libavcodec" value.

Make sure using latest K-Lite Codec Pack 3.6.5 Full or higher. Try disable MJPEG in ffdshow video decoder.
Then it will start using the MJPEG Decompressor. May need to reboot.

I'm using K-Lite v. 3.7.5 Full.
I've tried disable the "MJPEG" and "Other MJPEG" entries at ffdshow video decoder configuration and reboot my system, but no effect; then reenable them and reboot again, but no effect.
The curious thing is these AVI files can be read smoothly by Windows Media Player both with ffdshow MJPEG codecs enabled and disabled. And the same happens with QuickTime Player. By the way, after opening one of these files at QuickTime I've been having a look at movie properties feature, and it reads "Motion JPEG OpenDML" as video format. I don't know if this information could be useful in order to find a possible fix for this issue.

Maybe Vegas only works with VFW codecs. In that case you should enable MJPEG in "ffdshow VFW interface".

Enabling MJPEG at "ffdshow VFW interface" has in fact fixed the issue.
