The old K-Lite mega codec pack is really good while converting. I dont know why, but the new ffdshow based codecs are giving me trouble. I prefer the 1.53 version. But 1.66 are welcome. But later on, the packages are giving while movie format converting, specially from x264 to DiVX/XViD AVI. The sound comes distorted in 8000 Hz, 24 kbps Sterio MP3. Moreover, the lower sterio bitrate are not shown in the options while using TMPG4Exp.

The older versions must retain on the servere.

Couldn't agree more. I still have the 1.67 and it seems fine. Other software houses do the same thing, and often replace a good old one with a Cutting Edge loser! Dopes! If you want it, I can get it to you.
