Hi, New to forum. I'm somewhat in codec hell. Just got a Sanyo Xacti hd700 digital camcorder, records in MPEG4.

It comes with Adobe Premiere Elements 3. Most stuff I've read says it supports mpeg1 & 2. I performed the product update to the software, but it still doesn't import the mpeg4's. I really want to edit my video's with this. I saved the mp4 as a mp1, and it would play with wmp, but Adobe still wouldn't import it. sad.gif

I have the K-Lite codec, and the one for Windows media player 9 and up. I have media player 11. Also got the CCCP one, but i think i'm gonna remove that.

Maybe this is more of an Adobe issue, but i'm confused as to why they would ship software with a camera when it doesn't support the format of the camera. Little frustrated and annoyed as you can imagine, as I'm also new to digital video editing and such. There's so much information out there.

Also, running windows xp, 1gb ram, 1.86ghz intel, 7200rpm HD. Thanks for any help. -Ron mf_laughbounce2.gif

Oh, also, tried importing my videos into windows movie maker, and had the same problem. File type not supported.

Hey,

as I've read on forums, adobe PE3 doesn't really support mpeg4 format...

But you may succeed by installing QuickTime... as declared officially:

If not, you should convert it to a compatible format or edit it with sg else...
