Hello, i am just new here, but after checking on the forum I couldnt find an answer to my problem. Hope someone can help me?
What is the problem: i have Vista Ultimate 64, and have installed the newest (4.4.2) codec pack plus media player classic. If i try to play a DVD, which i have downloaded to my external USB hd, i get the message: incompatible disd and region codecs. This happens when trying to play the video-ts map via media player classic. If i download the smae video-ts file to an internal harddisk, it works flawlesly, again using media player classic. As i read somewhere about that having to do with WD external harddisks, i also tried with toshiba external harddisk. The same problem there. If i play the video-ts directory from that external hard disk the same error apears.
If i use VLC player though, it plays from both the WD as the Toshiba drive. Also if i connect my external harddiks to a windows xp machine with media player classic, it plays without problems......
I have turned off UAC, but if its turned off or on, it doesnt play from my external harddisks with media player classic. As i prefer using mpc above vlc, who can help me solve this problem?
So, only mpc on vista ultimate 64 doesnt play my video-ts files from external harddisks.....

Normally I play the VOB files within the VIDEO_TS folder, not the Video_TS.IFO file.
I use file..OPEN DVD when using Media Player Classic. Anyway, it is an oddity with VISTA.
Are you sure turning on UAC (user account control) didn't correct the problem? mellow.gif

Otherwise, there are work arounds... burning to a DVD or encoding to a different more compressed format.
