If there is a member here who has had the time and money to buy and compare different blu-ray burners, I will defer to their judgement on this question. I have not had either, so far.

In making purchase decisions like this I typically resort to professional test evaluation and review organizations - like http://www.ehow.com/how_4601968_bluray-dvd...r-computer.html
or others. I tried the search terms ["how to" buy "blu-ray" burner ] and got several interesting hits, including the above and links to a Chris Pirillo video touting a particular external unit. Of course I would use several variations of search terms (eg. [ review rate "blu-ray" burner ]) to locate reviews of the type of equipment I was considering purchasing (such as wintel vs mac, brand, internal or external, etc.), with a goal of being able to read at least 3 and preferably 5 solid review articles before making a final decision.

Perhaps other members have recently researched blu-ray player/burner equipment, and can point us to good review articles or web postings.
