Well The only good news is this
Flac Tag Support Plugin for Windows Media Player v 1.1
Download
Now when you throw flacs into the library , each flac will go to its artist just like mp3s

offcourse that plus installing any flac decoder (Like Mad Flac) or codec pack (Like K-Lite Mega Codec)to enable WMP11 to run them in the first place

Now the Problems i m Havin , would really appreciate any help

With The Seek Bar
- In Case of Installing Any Flac Decoder or Codec Other Than The Next 3
Immediate Crash of windows media player once you try to seek/skip during a song
- In Case of Installing K-Lite Mega Codec 4.62 , MadFlac 1.8 , CoreFLACDecoder 0.4
(While Playing a Flac from the media player library) : clicking in the middle (or where ever) in the seek bar to skip during a song causes the song to restart from the beginning + the seek bar doesn't move (also it doesn't detect the duration of the song at the bottom of wmp)
(While Playing a Flac from windows explorer/just double clicking any flac even if it was in the library) : you can seek/skip to any part you want in the song but still the seek bar doesn't move from the position you moved it to (now it detects the duration of the song and place it in its place : which gotta do something about it being able to seek now , as it knows the lenth of the song , where to go and stuff)

With The Plugin
Although the favor that the Tag Support Plugin did for us , after installing it (or when ever its enabled)
- wmp crashes when ever i insert a movie / concert dvd-r
- every single song played using wmp is automatically added to the library when the plugin is enabled even though i ve unchecked the "Add Media Files To Library When Played" in the wmp options

In other words if i m in the middle of a song in my library and want to skip to the end (..cough Floyd .. Echoes) , I have to right click the song in the library -> open file location -> double click / play the song again from explorer , then skip to the end (which doesn't make any sense to me , i mean if it can do it , why wont it do it in the library any ways !)

Any Idea patch plugin or codec you know of that would avoid any of these problems , please help
thanks in advance

Not sure what appeal of this lossless format... since support is sketchy and the sound difference is negligible compared to studio quality MP3, APE, AAC lossless codecs. I don't use WMP since I find 3rd party music support and playback is dismal.

Don't expect you to switch players (perhaps you only use MS software). An alternative great music player is Jet Audio plus VX.
Supports more music formats including FLAC with tags.... seeking works well. NOt to mention... superior sound enhancement, EQ, sound effects etc.

I stick with CD/studio quality lossy codecs so I can save on hard drive space.. but normally play WMA, MP3, AAC formats.
Of course, the choice is up to you. Good luck with your effort. thumbsup.gif

Seeking doesn't work when you play files from the library. That is a bug in WMP. Solution is to ditch WMP and use a different player. Then seeking will work and no crashes. If you need a library, then use Winamp.

The solution to use seek bar in WMP: You add lossless files into a playlist then play them from that list. It works for me. Enjoy it. thumbsup.gif

If you choose to use a properly built codec package such as those found here at codecs.com, you can rightclick your FLAC file and choose 'Add to Windows Media Player list' just like you can do for an AVI for example. This works for all versions of windows from XP through to and including Windows 7.

Using this method to start you FLAC files will enable the seekbar functionality in Windows Media Player. Although the attached image indicates an MKV being rightclicked, the same is possible for FLAC audio files. The installation doesn't automatically set this up because many users take offence to file associations being imposed on them so there is a convient button on the Help TAB to set all newly enabled filetypes to be openned by WMP by default.

The K-Lite Codec Pack has the "Add to WMP playlist" functionality. Seeking works correctly when opening files using that method. Point is that seeking does not work properly when opening files from the library.

WMP Tag Plus is a tag support plug-in that will fix the seeking problem. Remember to uninstall or disable other tag support plug-ins first, to prevent conflicts.
