Hi laura smile.gif

What converter/burning prog. do u use? And what format r u trying to convert to? SVCD? DVD? unsure.gif
laura_623
i have cucusoft and mainconcept.
chp
Ok, and what's the exact error message?

BTW TMPGEnc is a quality tool for converting AVI to VCD/SVCD format. You should try it as well wink.gif
laura_623
when i use the cucusoft it says "can't find a codec for your avi file, please make sure you have installed a appropriate codec" my other converter won't have it neither sad.gif
chp
But you can play this AVI, can't you? So the decoders are installed then.
You can verify whether the codecs are installed properly for this AVI with GSpot.
laura_623
well i down load it,and i didn't have a clue how to opertate blink.gif it
chp
Just load the AVI through menu: File/Open.
Then you'll see the Video and Audio codecs used in the AVI and the suitable codecs installed on your system.
laura_623
right tryed wot you said, and it says "file name, diretory name or volume label syntax is incorrect " !!!!! blink.gif
chp
Well, it's strange....
Does the filename include some special characters, or the directory structure, where you're trying to open it? unsure.gif
You could try to rename the file and move to C:/
laura_623
biggrin.gif i renamed it and it worked, right now that its in gspot huh.gif now wot do i do?
laura_623
its converting now in me other converter blink.gif thanks for your help
chp
So there is no codec error message now? The filename was the problem? huh.gif
laura_623
oh god don't rub it in will ya huh.gif you do know i am a woman !!! but then again i did get the film from emule huh.gif
chp
Well sorry can't really follow blink.gif
You got the same problem now? huh.gif
Did you checked the AVI with GSpot? Then what's Video Codec Name, 4cc and the Audio Codec name? What codecs are installed for this AVI?
Mischcabob
Some programs don't recognize files without proper extensions.. others read the file header. Just make sure file extensions are not hidden by default in windows.
Also, be careful when downloading from bit torrent/emule/edonkey networks. Many files can be corrupted or may contain nasties. wink.gif

Side note: Anyway, let us know how the encoding works out. I know it can takes hours so hopefully it was not done in vain. cool.gif
chp
Yes, maybe it's corrupted... or the codecs (DivX) should be reinstalled...
laura_623
it was the file name !!! unsure.gif
euromix
