Last night I downloaded AVG Free 8.5 avgf.406.1616. Under C:\Downloads there is the AVG icon with label avgfupg.
When I double clicked to install, a message warned me that there is a virus protection running, which should be uninstalled before installing AVGFree. This I did as that program would have run out within the next few days in any case.
When I now double click to install this the following message comes up: "Thank you for using AVG! You will be automatically updated to new version 8.5. The AVG User Interface should reflect these changes within a few hours."
Could you advise me please where I would find the AVG User Interface - while I have not been able to install AVG at this stage. I also do not understand why there should be an 'automatic update' while I have just downloaded presumably the latest version.
At this stage I have no protection as I have uninstalled the former virus protection.
Thank you for looking into this problem.
