I've been using the Klite Mega Codec Pack for years in its various iterations and, except for the odd occasion that it's caused a BSoD, I've been very happy with it. I know that it contains the Lame mp3 codec and that it works, because I've looked and because I can play mp3 audio tracks and can both play, encode and burn video files with an mp3 audio track using Nero 7. I also use DVDSanta when Nero refuses to co-operate with a particular video protocol, for video image files or when the video clips are too small and numerous for Nero.
This takes care of 99% or my burning needs, but there is one outstanding problem that I've skirted around for a long time and finally decided that I've got to get sorted: DVDSanta (v 4.5) refuses to handle video files with an mp3 audio track and I just don't understand why: the codec's there, so why doesn't DVDSanta use it, especially when GSpot tells me that I've got 6 compatible codecs installed for one of the files?
The thing that's brought this to a head is the fact that I've just converted a number of relatively small .wmv files to avi using the Amadis video converter (v 3.7.3), which produces .avi files with an .mp3 audio track. Nero sems to be able to handle the result, but DVDSanta takes exception to the audio.
Any ideas, anyone?
