Hi there, i am new here,

Have installed the previous and the latest Codecs and Media Player classic in Win7 RC7100 and it won't run. i get an error message stating that i don't have permission to run the file: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

i have a Gigabyte Motherboard GA-MA790X-DS4, an AMD Atlone 3800+ CPU, 2GB DDR2 RAM, GV-NX62TC256D8 Graphics Card, SATA DVD and 120GB Hard drive. Not the best but all win7 capable.

i have installed the previous on my work PC and it run's there, but not on my home PC. Please can you advice me what to do to get it running. The work PC is an older machine with worse specs and it runs Media Player Classic.

Please all help is appreciated.

Thanks

Put the file in a different place or edit its access permissions.

The Users have read & execute rights which cant be changed and adding other rights don't make a difference, the administrator and system have full rights and i get the same error when running as administrator!

when i copy the files to a new location and run it from there it works, but the shortcuts (menu) and the "open with" also don't work!

Please advice?

With win7 - release candidates and probably the final version, the UAC is tighter than that of vista. If it MPC that gives the error, find where the player was installed, right click on the file and, and select the 'compatibility' tab, and select run as administator. Also check the effective permissions, and adjust these, reading the info on the each box that comes up. At one stage, you should be asked to enter the User account you want to give permission to. This will be complicated unless you gave your computer a unique name and workgroup during install. This user account will be in this format - computer name/ user account. After this is entered, then click on check credentials. If all is well, you'll get user account ok, then the close the box to store the effective permissions change. You may be asked for your admin password. If this is the issue, the player will then play as normal.

i solved the problem!

i use Kaspersky Intenet Security 2010 and it put MPC in the restricted zone, when i changed it to trusted in KIS it is working corectly now.

Hope it will help someone else;)
