As title having problems forcing playback of 4:3 as 16:9 which i have done in xp and vista no problems just by using the resize option in ffdshow. But now in windows seven checking these options doesnt do anything still 4:3 ! Using media player 12 with latest klite codec pack. Can playback in 16:9 if video clip was encoded that way but if encoded 4:3 just cant force it to do it. Any ideas am i missing something stupid ?

Thank you for your reply. I am not quite sure I understand your instructions. We cannot even open the file at all, let alone playing it. I will type the message below that we receive. I hope you understand my lack of knowledge in this case.

ffdshow is probably not being used. Decoders from Microsoft are used by default on Windows 7. There is a tool to 'fix' that. You can get that at this page:
http://www.codecguide.com/windows7_preferr...ter_tweaker.htm

liesbeth1:

You need a decoder for MPEG1 audio, often called MP1. For example ffdshow can handle that format.

Dear people, We have tried everything. We do have ffd show, we also downloaded a codec for mpeg-1. Nothing will work. The funny thing in ffd show is that when we press configuration we can see the word mpeg1 in gray letters (not clickable). Does anybody have any more suggestions for this annoying problem. Your help is highly appreciated.

You can click on the text behind "MPEG1" in ffdshow. Change "disabled" to "libavcodec".

Hi, Thanks for your reply. We did everything you suggested but there is a problem. We found the mpeg1 in ffdshow, but when we try to change the disabled to libavcodec it does not change the disabled. What are we doing wrong. Heeeeelp!

Hi, we have tried and tried for a few more days (Oct. 24) It still does not want to open. What can we do?

With ffdshow, the place is behind the "disabled", actually clicking on the arrow just to the right. Before leaving ffdshow, go down to the items on left, paying attention to the area at right. There is a setting for the video sizes, and you might want to tinker with that, to see if you can open & play the 16:9 (widescreen) format.

I currently do not have extra codec packs installed, but will soon. You may want to see if VLC media player can open. If not, see if the player has an error or error code displayed and copy that to send here.
